Dr. James Dahlgren is Medical Director for BWell. With 35 years experience as an internist diagnosing and treating patients with toxic poisoning, he is a seasoned and well respected toxicologist the world over. Dr. Dahlgren’s current roles also include an assistant clinical professorship of medicine at UCLA School of Medicine, in addition to author of dozens of article and two books.

Dr. Dahlgren is a toxicology expert on toxic tort cases across North America. One of the most famous cases he consulted for was Anderson et al vs. PG&E, made into the movie, “Erin Brockovich”. In addition, Dr. Dahlgren has treated and continues to treat New York City (NYC) Firemen exposed to a toxic cocktail of chemicals and harmful substances at “Ground Zero” in the wake of the attacks on September 11th.

Dr. Dahlgren’s role as BWell Medical Director is to supervise the treatment process for every participant from initial in-depth medical evaluation, on going treatment, and final assessment. Dr. Dahlgren is also actively involved in planning extensive research and development for BWell. The center is committed to ongoing scientific development of all aspects of the program and to improving the detoxification process. Improving the program is a never ending journey of scientific discovery and delivery.



 

Dr. David Root, MD
BWell Advisory Board


Dr. Root is a member of BWell's Expert Advisory Board. Dr. Root retired from the Air Force in October 1980, spending 20 years as a flight surgeon and fighter pilot. In 1981, Dr. Root opened his occupational medicine practice in Sacramento, CA. Over the last 23 years, Dr. Root has provided detoxification services to approximately 4,000 patients, as well as consulting on chemical exposures in Yugoslavia (1987); Shreveport, Louisiana (1987-1988); Russia (1995); and the World Trade Center disaster (2002-2005).

Dr. Root is the Chair of the Scientific Advisory Board for Narcanon International, and is a medical consultant for the International Academy of Detoxification Specialists and the Foundation for Advancements in Science and Education.

He chaired the First International Conference on Human Detoxification held in Los Angeles in 1995; he co-chaired the Second International Conference on Human Detoxification in Stockholm, Sweden in 1997; and is the co-chair for the Third International Conference on Human Detoxification to be held in New York City in September 2005.

Dr. Root is Board Certified by the American Board of Preventive Medicine in both Aerospace Medicine and Occupational Medicine, and is an active member of the American Society of Addiction Medicine, and the California Society of Addiction Medicine.

Michael J. Hollis, ND is director of Naturopathic Medicine for BWell received a degree in naturopathic medicine from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine. A board certified, licensed Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine in California, Dr. Hollis focuses on adjunctive assessment of toxicological influences on hormone function, as well as anti-aging and peak-level health. With unique expertise in the field of clinical and diagnostic laboratory testing, Dr. Hollis is exceptionally qualified to diagnose and treat patients with a scientific and yet holistic perspective.

Dr. Hollis built his practice treating motivated patients with one thing in mind: how to get and stay healthy at any age. Dr. Hollis' expertise in clinical testing helps patients to evaluate imbalance, essential deficiencies, and the presence of as-yet-undetected disease states. Diet, Integration Training, BioIdentical Hormone Balancing, and Selected Detoxification Protocols are designed to envelope every patient in a blanket of success.

Beate Holst, MsT. was born and raised in Germany and received her nursing degree from the University Clinik Eppendorf in Hamburg, Germany in 1989. Beate was a nurse for nine years in the intensive care unit supporting kidney transplant patients and in the OR as a anaesthesiologist nurse. Beate’s interest over the last 15 years in the Healing Arts and her quest to create and live a lifestyle of optimal health brought her to the US in 1998. Beate came to the US to study holistic bodywork at the Institute of Psycho Structural Balancing in Culver City, CA. In addition to her training in holistic bodywork, Beate completed her studies in Cranio Sacral Unwinding and Polarity with Gary Strauss at Polarity Healing Arts of California, in Topanga, CA.

Beate has extensive expertise is Deep Tissue and Lymphatic Massage, Reflexology, Hot/Cold Jade Stone Therapy, Aroma Therapy with Young Living Oils, Raindrop Therapy, Polarity, and Cranio Sacral Unwinding. Her sessions are uniquely composed to assist each person in finding their own balance, self-awareness, well-being and integrity in mind and body. Beate hopes to help her clients through bodywork by to activating their own ‘inner physician’.




Sue Choi

Sue Choi provides movement therapy that is based on three principles: ease of the breath, freedom of movement, and balance in the body. During a session with her, you will find more range of motion where you feel blocked, more stability where you feel lack of control, and fundamentally more comfort in your body. Drawing from yoga and pilates principles while incorporating hands-on guidance, Sue will guide you into a physical re-discovery of your self through your body.

Sue is professionally trained in yoga, pilates and massage. She draws upon these disciplines to see the body as a whole and teach embodiment with skill, creativity and precision. Most of her yoga trainings were taken in San Francisco, India and Los Angeles. She trained in pilates through Body Arts and Science International and with Marie-José Blom-Lawrence of Long Beach Dance Conditioning. Her massage trainings were taken at the Institute of Psycho-Structural Balancing in Culver City and through the Polarity Healing Arts in Topanga. She continues to educate herself in mind-body disciplines to improve the quality of her instruction.



Russ Pfeiffer

Russ Pfeiffer works with clients through rolfing, movement and yoga therapy. His method of working is grounded in sound anatomical understanding of the body and integrates other movement modalities such as Tai Chi, Feldenkrais Method, Alexander Technique, Continuum Movement and Laban/Bartenieff fundamentals.

He is a professional bodyworker since 1996 and trained at the Rolf Institute, the International Professional School of Bodywork in San Diego and the Esalen Institute in Big Sur. He is a certified rolfer and rolf movement practitioner. A yoga instructor since 1997, Russ trained mostly through the Iyengar system, but has comprehensive and diverse training within a variety of styles. Some of his teachers include: Richard Freeman, Dona Holleman, Shandor Remete, Rodney Yee, Manouso Manos and Lisa Walford.

Russ teaches experiential anatomy classes for the University of California in Irvine and Yoga Works Teacher Training. He is the director of massage and yoga services at the world famous resort “The Ashram” in Calabasas, California.

Megan Dahlgren is Clinical Services Director for BWell. With her background in growing a consulting business, Ms. Dahlgren understands how to service customers and lead the development of effective end-to-end wellness solutions.

Before joining BWell, Ms. Dahlgren was an analyst with a leading global market research and consulting firm, IDC. During her time at the firm, Ms. Dahlgren quickly established herself as an expert source of detailed analysis on many aspects of the market. She communicated her analysis and research as a regular speaker at industry events and was often quoted in industry publications as a thought leader.

Ms. Dahlgren's role in BWell is to manage all aspects of the business from aligning day-to-day operations with the BWell Mission Statement and Vision, business plan, recruitment of staff, clients and partners, and managing the most important aspect of the business - customer service. In this comprehensive role, Ms. Dahlgren is not only a Business Development Manager she is an advocate and champion of wellness.
